Estimating Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

The Estimating Engineer will be part of the Sales and Marketing department at Mitchell Dryers and reports to the Sales and Marketing Director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Sales team on new business enquiries from existing and new customers.

  • Assist with bids for new enquiries and support Sales & Commercial teams as appropriate.

  • Completion of required enquiry estimates upon timely receipt of detailed customer work scope and technical specification.

  • Discuss enquiry opportunities with the relevant Sales Manager to ensure compliance with the enquiry process.

  • Working together with all relevant departments to develop accurate and consistent bid submissions.

  • Assess the level of risk associated with an enquiry/project and highlight options to mitigate.

  • Support the Commercial Manager with ensuring projects costs remain in line with forecasts after contract has been secured.

  • Work with Procurement Manager to obtain quotes for all predicted requirements from sub-contractors and suppliers.

  • Making use of relevant computer software such as Excel, Word and Autodesk DWG TrueView.

  • Keeping up to date with inflation, exchange rates and projected timescale costs.

  • Presenting bids to clients and answering their questions.

  • Any ad hoc duties required by the company.

  • Highly proficient in numeracy

  • Able to undertake project management

  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines

  • Ideally commercially aware of the manufacturing and drying industry

  • Excellent at problem solving

  • Analytically minded, including having the ability to undertake financial analysis

  • A team player

  • Organised and methodical

  • Proficient at using Microsoft Office

  • Good at record keeping

  • An effective communicator both verbally and in writing

  • Aware of data confidentiality
