Our roller extruders are designed to produce granules, such as kaolin and pigments, from a filter cake. They are mainly used to enhance the drying process, generating uniform particles which results in more even and faster drying.
The filter cake is fed from above into the extruder chamber. It is then forced through a perforated die plate by rotating rollers to form granules of uniform diameter and similar length. This action minimises the shear introduced into the material.
Roller extruders can be mounted above the feed end of a conveyor band dryer, or can discharge onto a conveyor for onward processing by other types of dryer or equipment. They are available in a range of sizes.
