Design Draughtsperson

JOB PURPOSE

As a Design Draughtsperson you work as part of the design office team at Mitchell Dryers, using your engineering skills to produce high quality technical drawings for the manufacture of wide range of drying equipment and general engineering solutions. The precision drawings produced by the design office accurately convey information that ensures Mitchell Dryer’s and clients projects produce high quality results every time.

The role reports to the Projects Manager and works under the daily supervision of the Senior Design Draughtsperson.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Production of design calculations
  • Production of precise 2D and 3D technical drawings that accurately convey design information
  • Drawings can include design concepts, plant layouts, general arrangements, machinery models, detailed manufacturing plans, equipment assembly plans, transportation layouts, etc.
  • Collaboration with the Mitchell Dryers operations team to produce effective manufacturing drawings
  • Updating existing drawings
  • Digital reproduction of archive drawings
  • Preparation of material lists
  • Calculation of equipment weights
  • Adherence to drawing approval & drawing control procedures
  • Compliance to company and regulatory standards
  • Working to support multiple projects
  • Conducting site and equipment design surveys
  • Other duties commensurate with the role, experience and capability
 

KEY MEASUREMENTS AND TARGETS

  • Production of high-quality drawings within appropriate timescale
  • Manufacturing drawing that facilitates efficient manufacture of machinery and equipment
  • Design drawings that accurately convey design intent
  • Continual improvement of designs and drawings

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Minimum of ONC or HNC Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Competent use of IT and MS office products
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Inventor experience – (optional, will be developed)
