Our range of vacuum dryers is mainly used for batch production where relatively small volumes are required. They are used for temperature or oxygen sensitive materials and for removing high boiling solvents as well as water. Due to the containment, they are also suitable for toxic and flammable materials and for applications where solvent recovery is desired.

These dryers are pressure vessels which we build to British or European codes as standard. We offer bespoke solutions tailored to the individual application.

The vacuum pan dryer is essentially a flat-bottomed, jacketed, cylindrical vessel heated by hot water, steam or thermal oil. Wet material is fed into the dryer through a top connection or manhole depending on the dryer capacity and location. The effective action of the rotating agitator arm continually presents fresh material to the heat surfaces and facilitates homogeneous mixing.

The double cone dryers are typically used for pharmaceutical products, metals or other free-flowing powders and granules where gentle mixing is required.

Heat transfer fluid (hot water, oil or steam) circulates throughout the jacket of the double cone dryer. The dryer’s conical shape ensures direct contact between the material and the heated surface, and rapid heat transfer by conduction.

As the dryer rotates, quick and thorough intermixing of the entire batch brings every particle in contact, time and again, with the heated surface. This enables high-speed drying without excessively raising the temperature of the material being processed. The mixing and blending action is due to the unique geometry of the drying compartment. Intersections of cylinders and truncated cones are obtuse angles, which means no material is trapped.

Our vacuum dryers are used where materials to be dried are heat sensitive or liable to oxidation. These dryers can be supplied complete with a heating system, vacuum pump, solvent condenser and service piping.
